Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup, xAI, has announced that its latest AI chatbot, Grok-2, is now available for free to all users on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). This move aims to enhance user engagement by providing advanced AI capabilities directly within the platform.
While all users can access Grok-2, Premium and Premium+ subscribers will benefit from higher usage limits and will be the first to access new features as they are released. This tiered access ensures that paying subscribers receive added value through enhanced interaction with the AI chatbot.
Grok-2 has been quietly tested over the past few weeks, demonstrating significant improvements over its predecessor. According to xAI, the new version offers three times faster performance, improved accuracy, better instruction-following, and multilingual support. These enhancements make Grok-2 a competitive alternative to other AI chatbots in the market.
To access Grok-2, users can navigate to the dedicated tab within the X app, where the AI assistant is integrated. The chatbot is designed to assist with a wide range of tasks, including answering questions, generating content, and providing real-time information sourced from the X platform.
By offering Grok-2 for free, xAI positions itself alongside other AI chatbots like OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, Microsoft's Copilot, and Anthropic's Claude, which also provide free access to users. This strategic move is expected to broaden Grok-2's user base and enhance its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
